IN THE STUDIO: MARGEAUX WALTER

Artist Margeaux Walter uses photography and video to create meticulously staged social satires. Her recent works, made in her New York home while in quarantine, are intimate explorations of daily life reflecting a sense of isolation and a failed connection with nature.

Here, Margeaux shares a behind the scenes peek at the various ways in which she envisions and creates new work. While she physically inserts herself into many of her photographs, Margeaux skillfully draws the viewer’s focus to her surroundings.

Like many artists, Margeaux often creates initial sketches to build a composition and narrative. Her new series, All Natural, depicts interior settings infused with elements of nature, a direct reflection of being in quarantine and having a strong desire to be outside.
