“The last four months have been a powerful experience for all of us. It’s hard to say precisely how my mind and heart have been affected by all that has happened.” – Ed Cohen
Living and working in Santa Barbara, CA, artist Ed Cohen has spent the last four months working hard in the studio. His work is powerfully affected by his surroundings, particularly by the force of light. His digital exhibition, Pacific Light, presents this new body of work.
For Ed, the painting process becomes a state of meditation. Once he begins, his surroundings quickly fall away and he experiences a sense of freedom. You can see this freedom physically reflected in his paintings which he creates instinctively, without any formal planning.
All of Ed’s work is heavily affected by the multifaceted light he experiences daily. The unique dynamic between the mountains and ocean produces a quality of light that shifts from hour to hour.
Ed Cohen has been painting for more than 30 years. His work features a singularly nuanced combination of control and spontaneity. His work embodies a strong sense of energy and emotion.
